FATHER JOHN´S 25TH ANNIVERSARY
- John Main OSB, the founder of our Community, who rediscovered for us all the way of
meditation in the Christian tradition, passed away on 30 December 1982. He lives on in our
heart through his teaching, in which he shared his lived experience of this deep way of
prayer. Especially this year we remember him, with love and gratitude for his legacy and for
enabling us to share with you the gift of Christian Meditation.
Groups and individuals in many countries have held this year special commemorative events
in his honour. The culmination of this will be the 25th Anniversary Mass led by Laurence
Freeman OSB, his student and successor, on the 29th December at 14.30 GMT at
Westminster Cathedral in London. People from all over the world will gather there to
celebrate his life and spiritual legacy.
Even if you cannot be there in body, please join us in spirit wherever you live and meditate
